The smell of a freshly blossomed partnership is in the air this week. Microsoft and Netflix have announced they’re partnering to craft an ad-supported plan for viewers, despite a previous track record of saying they wouldn’t offer that option.

The news comes after several tumultuous months for Netflix – price hikes, determining which content gets the green light, loss of subscribers, layoffs, and more.

Netflix hopes to tap Microsoft for their innovative technological experiences and the ability to maintain users’ privacy.

This sure is starting to sound a lot like cable.
